BRAZILIAN JIU-JITSU

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu  is a grappling-based martial art whose central theme is the skill of controlling a resisting opponent in ways that force him to submit. Due to the fact that control is generally easier on the ground than in a standing position, much of the technique of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is centered round the skill of taking an opponent down to the ground and wrestling for dominant control positions from where the opponent can be rendered harmless.
To control and overcome greater size, strength and aggression with lesser size and strength is the keynote of the sport. This is done by utilizing superior leverage, grip and position upon your opponent. Students of the sport gain a deep understanding of the workings and limits of the human body.
This knowledge can be used to subdue and control an opponent with whatever level of severity the student chooses. The path to this knowledge is physically and mentally demanding. Students benefit from greatly increased physical fitness, problem-solving ability, self-knowledge of their body and mind and the many social benefits of working within a large group of like-minded fellow students as you learn and have fun together.

MUAY THAI / MMA 

Muay Thai is a striking based martial art out of Thailand. This art incorporates your hands for boxing, your elbows for clinch and close range, your knees for medium and close range, kicks for powerful long range strikes and the clinch for powerful control and throws. Dutch kickboxing is a style of kickboxing that is very aggressive and utilizes very powerful boxing to kicks combinations. We cross train with boxing to improve out hands and footwork as we believe that the combination of good clinch,powerful combos and safe counter striking by taking angles is the best strategy for striking based arts

WRESTLING

Wrestling is a combat sport involving grappling techniques such as clinch fighting, throws, slams, take downs, joint locks, pins and various other holds. We have various styles and we also cross train in other wrestling arts as well. We train mostly Freestyle and Greco but we also cross train in Judo, Folk, Sambo style techniqes.

HARDBAR Training is a strength and conditioning team that is ready to help you achieve your goals! We coach everyone and love to coach high-level athletes! We offer two three options for training! One on one session, Combat Conditioning, and Strength Club.

HEAD COACH AND OWNER - RYAN SANDBERG

Ryan grew up in Camrose, Alberta Canada. He played all the sports available and began his coaching career at a youngage of 14 coaching various local children's teams. He started his martial arts journey in high school starting with Hapkido, eventually he transitioned to Muay Thai, Boxing, wrestling and No Gi JiuJitsu. He started traveling back and forth from Thailand to train and compete. The Months spent in Canada he started to train Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu(gi) and the months he spent in Thailand was all about Muay Thai! In 2015 he decided to open his gym in his hometown of Camrose. This was the birth of MVM Fitness and Martial Arts! 2018 was when he joined GFTeam and started training under the GFTeam banner and we are proudly a GFTeam affiliate. Ever since then his main focus has been his contribution to the growth of his community through Jiu-Jitsu! Ryan has trained with and coached many professional athletes, his passion is helping everyone reach their true potential!
